McCLOY DENTAL - DR RUSSELL McCLOY, DR KAREN McCLOY, DR MONICA SMITH & DR POLLYANNA LAY - COSMETIC AND GENERAL DENTISTS - CABOOLTURE - KILCOY - SUNSHINE COAST
Yes we have them. And we use them too! All the time! You need them these days to deliver top quality dentistry. But it's the people in our team & not the gadgets that make us special. However, if you really want to see them here is a small selection of what we have;
CEREC- For the technically minded, this is a CAD CAM porcelain milling unit. This means that the dentist designs your crown, the machine cuts it out of a porcelain block & you can have it in your tooth straight away. No more second appointments, no more waiting & hoping that the temporary filling or crown will last & not fall out at the most embarrassing time possible. In one visit you can now have a high quality porcelain restoration.
K7- This is the one piece of high tech machinery that even Karen can't live without. With this machine we can tell more about your jaw & muscles than you ever dreamed a dentist would want to know. With the help of this machine, we can make sure that we place your bite where your muscles & teeth will work together to help you chew with a maximum of comfort & efficiency.
Diode Laser - If you really want to know how we do minor soft tissue surgery, (i.e. changing the shape of your gums etc), this is it! Actually it's not a bad little gadget. It makes all the difference to your smile.
Digital Camera - Well we use this all the time, at least Russell does; Karen gets Louise & Renee to take photos for her.
Rotary Endo/Endosonic/Apex Locator - These are just to prove that Monica is really serious about getting root canals well cleaned out. Seriously though, they all help to increase success & decrease the time needed for root canal therapy, which has to be a good thing.
Pharyngometer- Another big word! Put simply, a pharyngometer is a machine that measures how well you can breathe. And if you can't breathe well enough, it tells us where the problem is. Its real name is a pharyngometer/rhinometer. That means that it measures how well you can breathe both through your nose & your mouth. We use it to check that changing your bite is good for your airway, and to determine whether a jaw repositioner will help you if you suffer from sleep aponea.
It's just another example of the way that we try to do more for you at McCloy Dental.
